There are two good cycle routes to and from the port of Harwich.
One is National Route 51, mapped by Sustrans, and the other uses the B1352 via Ramsey, Wrabness, Mistley, Manningtree and Lawford.
On no account should you use the main A120 or A12! Over the years, so many cyclists coming into England have been unaware of the quieter routes, tried dodging 70mph cars and trucks for a few miles, then turned back to Europe.
The following downloads should be of help to you, though they need updating with regard to leaving the port itself. Ask dock staff to guide you on to the old Parkeston Road towards Dovercourt.
