We only want to catch a train!
As part of a large new development roughly 2km from Colchester North railway station, Colchester Council commendably insisted on a new cycle route to link the two.
The path from the homes on the former Flakt Woods site is now in - but the link to the station is not there.
CCC asked Colchester planners what would happen now, and, apparently, the final stage is dependent upon Network Rail remodelling the station, or applying for other changes which involve planning approval.
There is a route available, but it involves cutting through the station's multi-storey car park. As such, it is probably North Station's best kept secret.
If you live on the Woods site, please ask Network Rail for improvements to the cycle access from the Three Crowns Road cycle route. Write to Network Rail, 40 Melton Street, London, NW1 2EE - and please let CCC know what answers you get.
NB: CCC is aware of a problem with kerbs at the Three Crowns Road end of this path. We understand that this is to be addressed shortly.
